Welcome to the Employee Education Centre of the diocese of Würzburg - a place of further education and encounter - on the Benediktushöhe in the village of Retzbach.

Our open education work addresses employees who want to commit themselves in works councils, personnel councils, as spokesmen, in church unions, trade unions or in agencies of local or social self-government.

Our educational offers contain topics of Christian sociology,
courses in industrial law, works constitution, rhetoric and public relations,
as well as courses about civic, social, religious and ideological concerns.
But we also have offers for families, especially for large families with social disadvantages and for families with handicapped children. 

Our educational offers for families include courses in music, arts and crafts, as well as courses dealing with problems in the spheres of partnership and children's education, or with religious, ideological or political concerns.

Single mothers and fathers are also invited to these courses. Besides, there are meetings which are especially designed for them, and there is a "self-help group for single parents", whose members meet regularly on the Benediktushöhe.

Another mission of our house is the work with handicapped people. In cooperation with public welfare institutions, self-help groups and establishments for the handicapped we organize educational holidays and seminars dealing not only with the specific problems of the handicapped, but also with "normal" topics.

As for educational equipment, we dispose of everything that may contribute to the learners' progress, i.e. everything from the good old blackboard up to modern video equipment. 


The Benediktushöhe is a place where you can feel at ease. In a familiar atmosphere, welcoming both children and handicapped people, and with a wide range of leisure facilities, each seminar or educational holiday will become an unforgettable experience, and you will look forward to coming back to our Education Centre again and again.

The house disposes of 77 beds in single, double and two eight-bed rooms. Each room has its own bathroom with shower and lavatory.

Of course, there is also a sufficient number of lecture-rooms and assembly-rooms, as well as various leisure facilities (e.g. table-tennis, bowling).

Outside the house, you will find a children's playground with barbecue and campfire facilities as well as a sports ground. A car park is located right in front of the house.

The nearer and further surroundings of the Lower Franconian wine-growing region as well as the near city of Würzburg offer countless destinations for peaceful walks, exciting outings and interesting visits.
